Phew! Leaving Auckland and the sky clears for a fabulous scenic drive through the lakes of Rotorura and forests on the highway 30.
Arrived after frequently stopping for views and lake paddles!
Temperature tops 29C with 25C at 8 o'clock. First hostel, nice room but Lesleys unsure about the shared kitchen. Bloke just wants to flog trips and we just want to unload for the 3 nights.
Drive to Ohope beach that is long, surfy and tempting.
Dinner back in our room after visit to supermarket where we buy some pots and eating irons!
Temperature looks pretty similar tomorrow so we will get out in it before more rain is is threatened next week
