Usual 5kms walk along the waterfront, but now being Good Friday, the rest of fit or trying to be fit Whitianga were doing it as well. Certainly a holiday spirit, both houses beside ours are now occupyed and the harbour is bussing. Bikes out and another look at outlying property, making us even more jealous of this chilled out lifestyle. Lunch in the Harbour Cafe and over the ferry to cycle down to Cooks Beach.
Very nice afternoon paddling a watching the world go by! Cook landed here and took on fresh water and firewood. Named all the streets after him or his crew or the transit of Mercury or his boat or maybe the ship's cat! It's a bit like Tintagel, where King Authur did the same! We even saw Cook's lawn mowing service, so what a legacy!
On the way back the whole town seemed to have turned out to see a 87kgs yellow tuna being shown off
