A month's rain in a day!

Rain on the tin roof woke us early but we still resisted  getting up too early. Cats and dogs with no hills visible when the mob rung. Brian said had we heard the news? Whitianga  was cut off by road as bridges at both ends of town were flooded! Then the sirens went off which seem to mean anything from a sunami to world war 111!
Just the call for volunteer fire and rescue to get out the pumps we think.
The day didn't improve with no let up, so the drought ended. Watched the news , or tried, as the telly and free view boxes seem to have a mind of their own in NZ. Nothing about us on the Godtv which is all I could get! Weather  man seem pleased, when we found him, to say a high pressure had squeezed a big lump of rain onto Whitianga and it would last until tomorrow,  then back to normal late Friday.
Put our mackintosh on for a walk to the new canal development where everyone has a water front and boat by the looks of it! Prices are still ridiculous compared with blighty!

Our view this afternoon from just over the road, normally a nice blue and pleasantly tranquil river!
Tried doing the puzzle last time we were here in 2009, no success still this time!
