7.30am pickup to take us by mini-bus to our guided walk on this great walk. Upper twenties predicted but most important, as there was plenty of shade, was clear air and clear blue sky........a double bonus for us! 2 Americans joined us as well as Steve our guide, ex Newcastle.
The bloke got cramp early on and both were dressed for a walk in the park! So at the first hut Steve had decided, because we had plenty left in our tanks and the great weather, to split up and leave the Americans behind giving instructions to meet up later.........but they got that wrong!
Great walk up to the Routeburn Falls hut where we had magnificent views up at the higher falls then back for lunch in the 5* hut!
He left us early to try and meet up with the other 50% and we paddled in the mountain stream before our walk back to the start rendezvous circa 4.30.
Fantastic long day, 1 hour back in the bus along the lake......both Americans asleep.
Out for a piza in the evening, town stroll and bed.
